GOFUNDME 2.0

Luca and I are asking again for your help with the next steps in his go kart racing adventure.

Luca is quick, very quick. He’s surprised everybody and he’s exceeded my lofty expectations since he started racing go-karts. He’s done extremely well and it’s hard to think that he only made his debut in June. Even though he hasn’t completed an entire season yet, his results and lap times in 2016 means that it is now mandatory for Luca to move up to the next level for the 2017 season.

Remarkably, he’s won 4 races out of 5 and the kart is now holding him back. He shown a maturity on track that goes beyond his young years and he has developed a deep passion for this sport. He really loves to race. His pit crew believe that he is a natural racer.

And the next level brings with it not only new challenges but new equipment requirements to keep him competitive.

We have decided to go for the ItalCorse chassis. It’s a race chassis in comparison to the Cadet chassis he currently rides. It allows for multiple incremental tuning that make racing as much art as science. It also introduces Luca to the complexities and subtleties of motor racing.

A new chassis costs $2,900 and does not include anything such as wheels, gas tank and all the other stuff you need to drive a kart. It is just the bare chassis. We have found a lightly used one at $1,600 which includes everything we need to race except for an engine. It’s an exceptional deal.

The engine we want to mount on the new chassis is a mini Swift, specifically built for go karts. Luca’s current Comer 80 engine, surprisingly is a race tuned water pump. A new mini Swift engine costs $1,500 and we are advised not to cut corners on this spend with a used one, for obvious reasons.

And it is with this that we ask for your help once again.

We will find a buyer for our starter kart at $1,500 – it’s the sweet spot for new and upgrading drivers. It’s considered a very good deal and we hope to sell it quickly to  purchase the ItalCorse chassis as I have a hold on it only until 10/30.

Luca also managed to secure his first sponsor: James Glancey Design based in the UK. The company generously offered $750 towards the upgrade. Luca is really excited to be wearing their logo on his helmet. Take a look at their website at www.jamesglanceydesign.com

That brings our total to $2,250.

However, we are still $1,250 shy of out target and that is where your generous support comes in.

Help us reach our goal with anything you wish to donate. As Luca said in his video, even $1 is fantastic! We are aiming to get him into the new kart by the next race weekend of November 27th to help him familiarize with the step up ahead of the 2017 season.

We are tremendously grateful …

Thank you.
